Apprenticeship Training

Welcome to the JATC.  JATC stands for Joint Apprentice and Training Committee.  It is our job to ensure that any person accepted into our apprentice program receives qualified classroom instruction and completes all necessary requirements in order to become a journeyman electrician.

Our apprenticeship is a 5-year program that is a combination of classroom training and on-the-job training.  You are instructed as to when you are to attend school and you are monitored on the job by a journeyman electrician.  All aspects of this program are important for you to be able to complete each level of training and move forward, not only in the classroom but also in income.

If you are interested in applying to the apprentice program of IBEW Local #86, please read the information below to find out our minimum requirements and days and times of when we accept applications.

Minimum Requirements:

    • 18 years of age
    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
    • One year of algebra or Course 1 and Course 2
  • Upon Acceptance a mandatory physical and drug test is required.

Applications are accepted on the following days and locations:

1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month:
