NYS Department of Labor Announcement: Unemployment Insurance System Upgrade 

Good afternoon,

The New York State Department of Labor has announced the planned upgrade of our unemployment insurance system. You are among the first to learn this exciting news.

The upgrade will begin on MONDAY, November 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. and is expected to take 9 – 12 days. During that time, all unemployment services will be temporarily unavailable, and, consequently, customers should be prepared for delayed benefit payments.

We sincerely apologize for any hardship this may cause. This brief period of inconvenience will provide New Yorkers with a system that is more efficient, user-friendly, and responsive to their needs long term.

To help you prepare and answer your questions, we will hold a virtual town hall on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Please submit your questions in advance.
